AI Short-Form content earns HOW MUCH?!
Hey human,
Here’s one more quick update to keep you on top with what’s new in AI and education this week.
📚 AI+education news
Accounting body stops online exams > After moving the exams online during Covid, the accounting body is now moving back to in-person exams due to the rise of AI cheating. Will this be the start of a trend in 2026 as the sophistication of users outpaces the safeguards puts in place to retain academic integrity?
China’s new AI rules > China has introduced new rules to protect children from the harms of AI and honestly, they make sense to me. Here are just some of the ‘red lines’ introduced that providers of AI must prevent their products from doing:
Encourage any type of self-harm.
Content that could harm mental health
Incite crime
🌍 Wider AI updates
AI Slop on Youtube > According to a study, around one fifth of short form videos are now generated with AI. This videos are designed to grab attention and keep people scrolling. It is estimated that they generate £90,000,000 in revenue every year. With Youtube taking a cut of this, it is hard to imagine why they are not exactly trying to eliminate this from their platform.
Head of ‘Preparedness’ > In a job posting that wouldn’t be too far removed for a head of behaviour/pastoral role, OpenAI are beginning to realise the societal trade offs from the use of their technology. One of the responsibilities for the new head of preparedness will be to ‘Oversee mitigation design across major risk areas (e.g., cyber, bio), ensuring safeguards are technically sound…’
🎯Prompt/Tip
A nice easy one. Wondering what to do with all those Xmas leftovers? Snap a picture of it and let AI workout some delicious recipes with that leftover turkey and gammon.
In the coming weeks, I will be asking you what you want from AI for Schools in 2026. Ideas are a foot for a half-termly podcast and some video content around using some tools, but we would love to hear what you want, so please get thinking.
Till next week.
